First, satellite images of the lunar surface taken by NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter are turned into a working 3D model.
Next, they're 3D printed with an accuracy of 100 microns – the diameter of a single strand of human hair – to recreate the exact surface of the moon. And voilà!
